North Jersey: The Tackle Box in Hazlet (732-264-7711) Striped bass up to 22 pounds have been weighed at the shop in the past week, but action was slow over the weekend…winter flounder fishing is decent in the Navesink River…striper action would be a lot better if weather was warmer…an increase in water temperature will bring more baitfish into the bay.

Brielle Region: Brielle Tackle (732-528-5720) Good winter flounder action in Barnegat Bay…those chumming and using sandworms reporting good results…striped bass are being taken from Union Beach…party boats are still going out for ling, although action varies…some days, customers are catching close to 20 ling, but other days they're getting only seven or eight…some blackfish being taken off the inshore wrecks.

Ship Bottom: Fishermen's Headquarters (609-494-5739) says a couple of small striped bass have been caught from local beaches…winter flounder hitting in the back of the bay…water temperature on the oceanfront is 41 degrees, which is still too cold for good striper action.
